For some, the authorship alone may be sufficient endorsement for this book. In Chuck Pierce, we’re talking about a powerful prophetic voice that the Lord used in late January of 2006 to prophesy about the bloody Israel-Lebanon conflict months later. My own life has been impacted by his ministry and teaching.
For the rest of us, I would say that Possessing Your Inheritance is like an easy-to-read roadmap from wherever you are to that most desirable of destinations – namely, your personal, unique inheritance in Christ. What Chuck Pierce has provided is a magnificent resource for those who desire to walk in and receive all that God wants to give His children and heirs; for those who, deep in the pit of their souls, know that “there must be more than this.”
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
- Jeremiah 29:11-13
We can recite this passage on cue, but do we really believe it? Are we truly prepared to pay the price to walk out what we believe?
With expert clarity, gentle authority and firm exhortation, Chuck Pierce highlights not only the understanding, attitudes and spiritual equipping needed to successfully navigate this journey of faith and obedience, but also the unvarnished truth that we can only receive our inheritances on God’s terms, not our own. The upshot is that much of the book deals with uncomfortable issues that we must come to grips with before we can expect to walk in fullness of blessing – such things as pain, grief, loss and sin (both personal and generational) – which act as detours, obstacles and landmines that keep us from our goal.
Perhaps most importantly, he explains why we ought to make this trek and endure the inevitable risk and pain in the first place: The end result and the many blessings we’ll gather along the way are so wonderfully, gloriously worth it. In fact, what I love most about this book, even more than how he masterfully crafts a simple, biblical framework for positioning oneself to walk in abundance, is the profound, transcendent sense of hope, deeply rooted in our Father’s myriad promises throughout scripture, that anyone in any situation can inherit what the Lord has lovingly planned in advance.
The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. "I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— …You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”
- Joel 2:24-26
No matter how badly or often we may have failed, no matter how much we may have lost, this book exhorts us to an unshakable belief that the Lord’s central desire at all times is not to condemn, but to utterly redeem and restore what the locusts have devoured. We are reminded that our God is a loving, restorative Father with nothing but redemption and sweet victory on His mind. And we can experience that when we take His hand and walk closely with Him.
Chuck’s book, Possessing Your Inheritance, shows us how.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 2:12-14
