"Worship Like Water" (CD 1: "Deep", CD 2: "Continual"), Watchmen for the Nations
CD Review by Boris Kris
The "Worship Like Water" CDs ("Deep" and "Continual"), recorded live at the Watchmen for the Nations Gathering in Ottawa, offer an invitation into the center of our Lover's heart where we encounter nothing but an unreserved, passionate, and vulnerable love for us. These CDs unabashedly expose the love between Groom and Bride, Lover and Beloved. Worship Like Water is meant to express "vital, life-giving worship. It is a deep, pure, fresh, never-ending flow of intimacy pouring from the heart of an enraptured Bride - a Bride who cannot be satisfied only with an encounter, but whose yearning will only be fulfilled with the continual presence of her Lover."
The extravagant worship recorded on these CDs reflects the burning vision of the Watchmen for the Nations, whose purpose is to see Canada and the nations reconciled to God. For this purpose the intercessors of the Watchmen for the Nations, led by David Demian, have met across Canada for a number of years now under the direction of Holy Spirit. God has been giving them specific steps in the process of repentance and reconciliation of the many cultures living in Canada. Through their prophetic declarations, intercession, and worship, they have already had a tremendous and lasting impact upon the spiritual climate of Canada
The Groom and His Bride, the Lover and His Beloved, are vividly portrayed in the music through the many references to the Song of Solomon. "Worship Like Water" leads the worshipper on a musical journey into the intimate place. Jesus comes leaping and bounding over the mountains just to be with us. As the Beloved, I long for Him alone on my bed. I cannot bear to be without Him, and so I go out into the darkness of the night through the city's streets and squares to find Him whom my heart loves. Burning with longing, I ask the guards of the city if anyone has seen Him. When I find Him, I pour my fragrant vial of worship on Him, just as Mary Magdalene did so many years ago. My Lover declares this a beautiful thing that will be spoken of wherever the gospel is preached. He promises that He will forever watch over me so that I can dwell with Him in safety. Within His chambers, His Spirit touches my spirit with intimate kisses. He, my Lover, has touched my deepest part, and I have been transformed into His Beloved.
Now, I deeply long for His name to be known among those who do not yet know Him: those nearby and those distant, those nations that have yet to enter into their destiny. I find myself simultaneously immersed in extravagant worship and urgent intercession. The heavens that Isaiah begged God to rend are torn open by the blood flowing from My Lover. Shaken by His compassion, my walls crumble before Him. I offer myself to Him. May all the walls with which we have surrounded ourselves crumble, so that all peoples may know the love of God described so openly in the Song of Solomon and recorded so unreservedly in "Worship Like Water".
From the high-pitched and loud, to the quiet picking of an acoustic guitar, the worship weaves a continuous thread into an amazing tapestry of contrasting textures and styles rising and falling in unity with the passionate and pounding hearts of Lover and Beloved. The worship leaders and song writers, Heather Clark, Tracy Rahn, and Dan Haight, and the worship team members, have truly made the worship and intercession from Watchmen for the Nations a message that will be taken to heart within the Body of Christ.
Let us join them in this holy endeavour, in fervent worship and intercession. Let us join them in seeing Canada and the nations enter into an ever-deepening intimacy with our Lover who has been longing passionately for His Bride.

Hymns - Ancient and Modern
I imagine the original writers must have been bursting with inward fervour and passion for their God, able only to legitimately express it through song. It excites me to be connected to these Christ-lovers of the past, to the present where I am situated, and to the future generations of Christ-followers. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever... read more

Shattered Dreams
I have been praying daily ever since I became a Christian, and thankfully, I cannot say I've ever come to a place of despair where I felt that God had left me. However, I must admit that at times, I wonder why I bother to pray at all when God appears to allow bad things to happen anyway... read more

Recovering the Soul's Delight in Christ Through Fasting
When it comes to fasting, some modern day Christians might say, "Why do we need to fast? Isn't this an outdated practice reserved for ascetics? We live under grace. We don't need to prove our love for God by acts of deprivation." It's true - we do live under God's lavish, hope-giving, life-sustaining grace. To such critics I would point out that fasting is a clarifying and sanctifying experience, unique among the spiritual disciplines in its potential to help us understand what we treasure and what controls us... read more

Soul Survivor 2002: Glimpes of Glory
I bought in my first Soul Survivor CD 1996. I recall reading the CD cover, examining the worship leaders and song titles, thinking to myself, "I like David Ruis, but who are Matt Redman and Delirious?" Once I started listening to it, I felt like I was being drawn right into the event itself.
