    Thought For The Week

Man must cease attributing his problems to his environment and learn again to exercise his will - his personal responsibility.  --  Albert Schweitzer, philosopher and physician

    Thursday, August 13 - Sunday, August 16

The Acts Fellowship Family Camp will start on Thursday, August 13 and continue through Sunday morning, August 16. General Meeting

Acts will be having a general meeting for all members and regular attenders on Sunday, September 13, following the regular Sunday service.  The leadership team will lead a discussion about the distinctiveness and direction of our church.  The meeting will last for 90 minutes.  Childcare will be provided.  An e-mail with more detailed information will be sent to all members about a week before the meeting.  If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact Pastor Rob

    The Gods Aren't Angry

Where did the first caveman or cavewoman get the idea that somebody, somewhere, existed who needed to be worshiped, appeased, and followed?  And how did the idea evolve that if you didn't say, do, or offer the right things, this being would be upset, agitated, or even angry with you?  Where did religion come from?  This is a one night viewing at the pastor's home, followed by a discussion of Rob Bell's presentation.  Register on the website in the Walking With Jesus section of the equipping classes.  If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Rob.

    Walk-190 - Book Discussion Group

The book for this group is "Walking With God" by John Eldredge. The format of the group is a discussion about insights we gain from reading and sharing personal experiences of walking with God.  Register for this class in the equipping class section of the website.  The class is "WALK-190 - Book Discussion Group"  If you have any questions about this group, please contact Rob.

    Missions Update

Sunday, July 19, the missions team will be giving an update from our missionaries.  Find out how the Kingdom of God is being extended through those that we support with our prayers and our finances.  If you would like to become involved with the missions team, please contact Sandy or Anne.

    Perspectives On World Missions

Register for the Perspectives on World Missions course.  This is simply the best single course that anyone can take to become more familiar with all aspects of missions, including an understanding from Biblical, historical, cultural and strategic viewpoints.  You can get more information on the Perspectives website.  Classes begin on Tuesday, September 8 in Scarborough and Thursday, September 10 in Etobicoke.  If you are interested in taking this 15 week course, please contact Wayne Matthews at 905-568-9971 or 905-458-1687.  The Certificate Tuition for the course is $210, plus a $30 registration fee and $40 for the book and workbook.  Acts will reimburse you for $140 of the cost, by submitting a copy of your registration receipt and course completion certificate.

    Offering Prayer

For members who would like to know when you are scheduled to pray for the offering, look on the website Calendar.  If you are not able to pray on the date you are scheduled or have made other arrangements, please contact the church office.

    YSM Volunteer Opportunities

One of the most significant ways that we can demonstrate our love for Jesus is to be involved in mercy ministries, including caring for the poor, the widow, the orphan and those in immediate need.  One place to become involved in this type of ministry is Yonge Street Mission.  This ministry offers many and diverse opportunities to be a blessing to others.  Take a look on the volunteer page of their website.  Yonge Street Mission is a Toronto urban ministry supported by Acts Fellowship.

    To the Men of Acts

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  - Hebrews 10:24-25
If God is stirring your heart to increasingly step out in faith as a man of God and to deepen your relationship with Him, then come for a time of spiritual fellowship with your brothers at Acts.  We pray and encourage one another toward love and good deeds..  If you are interested in joining the Gibborim or have any questions about this group, then please contact either Jared or Jaegap.  We would love to have you join us.

    Studies in Luke

Acts Fellowship is studying the Book of Luke together.  The teaching is on hold right now, as we study principles of hearing God's voice.  The next teaching will cover the section including Luke 18:9-17.    We will study the Jesus' teaching about humility.  Our goal is to gain a better understanding of Jesus' character and his life practices, so that we can know Him more intimately.  Take some time to read the passage and talk to God about how it applies to your life.

    Healing Ministry

Do you need physical healing?  The healing team will be available after the service to pray for healing and freedom from physical illness and disease.  The healing ministry day is on the last Sunday of each month.  Come in faith, expecting to receive healing from the Holy Spirit.  If you have a testimony of healing or for more information, please contact Sang.

    How to Pray for Healing
“Bible-believing Christians certainly acknowledge that God is all-powerful. They use, without hesitation, the theological term “omnipotent” when describing God. However, we in [North] America sometimes have a difficult time bringing a practical application of this belief into our daily lives. Even in life-giving churches, the great majority of members rarely, if ever, see sick people instantly healed when they pray for them... read more

    The Case for Faith
